Details: 

Beautiful lace and velvet evening dress by English designer Jean Varon. Integral nude bodice underlays the sheer lace bodice. Decorative waist ribbon and fringed three quarter length sleeves. Fastens with a metal zipper at the back with hook and eye closures at the waist and neckline.

Context:

Jean Varon was the professional pseudonym of John Bates, an English fashion designer who was part of London’s thriving boutique scene in the 1960’s. He designed forward thinking modernistic designs which, despite his faux- French branding, were made exclusively in England.
